Dash is the main host of PBS Kids. He is Dot's older brother. He was 7 years old from 1999-2008, and 9 years old from 2008-2013, up until his redesign in 2013. After the redesign, his age is unknown (likely 14) since 2013. Since 2013, Dash has rarely been seen in new bumpers, although he was still in the logo up until 2022 when the logo was changed. Since 2013, Dash has his two younger siblings, Del and Dee, who appeared in his place.

In 2017, Dash made a cameo in a "Word of the Week" segment called "Community". He also appears with the original, younger version of Dot on some merchandise.

Personality[]

Dash is an intelligent, versatile, friendly, energetic and kind boy who loves to dance, swim and play soccer with his friends.

Dash was able to speak, and communicates through each sound he saying, "Whoa!" in some PBS Kids bumpers from 1999-2006. Later, he got his prototype voice in the online promos on the air of PBS Kids in September 6, 1999. It was Mason Therrel who voiced him in these online promos. As years went by, his voice actors were being replaced on PBS Kids and online in those "Picks of the Week" videos at pbskids.org.

Appearance[]

Dash is a green human boy with short, slicked back hair with three spikes. He wears a white shirt, blue (formerly black) jeans, and white shoes.

Trivia[]

  • Dash usually has blue pants but in the 2008 era, they're purple.
  • Dash originally had black eyes but was changed to blue for the 2013-2015 rebrand.
  • In 2000-2008, Dash's and Dot's left pupil was bigger than the right but was changed.
  • Dash's and Dot's skin color changes depending on the color of the background.
