This article is about the system cues that were shown on PBS Kids on September 1st, 2008 until October 6th, 2013. It is not to be confused with the other system cues, List of PBS Kids System Cues (1999-2008), List of PBS Kids System Cues (2013-2022), List of PBS Kids System Cues (2015-) or List of PBS Kids System Cues (2022-).

These system cues first aired on PBS Kids in the morning of September 1st, 2008, after the funding credits of the premiere of Sid the Science Kid, with the Telescope system cue, as seen on the season 1 episode "The Rolie Polie". They were then shown on most shows until October 6th, 2013 (airings of WordWorld, Caillou, Clifford and Barney didn’t used the 2008 system cues until between 2009 and 2011 while Thomas and Friends and Bob the Builder only used those ids in CGI seasons) They can, however, be seen on stations that still show other shows, such as Sid the Science Kid, Caillou, and WordWorld, but not on the 24/7 channel airings of the said shows.

A notable difference from most of the late 1999-August 2008 system cues is that these late 2008 ones added the word "KIDS" below the circular PBS Kids logo, similar to the said company logo before. Also, from this generation of these system cues onwards, the URL address for PBS Kids has never been removed, with absolutely no exceptions.

These system cues were changed in 2013, where the word "KIDS" is moved into the thought bubble containing the word "PBS", just like the company logo did back in 2008, but the Dot version is discontinued for good, which remains the Dash version until the new logo for PBS Kids and the usual "rebrand" in 2022. Updated 2013 versions of this generation of system cues also exists, where the word "KIDS" is moved into the thought bubble, just like the company logo did back in 2008.

KLCS from Los Angeles, California is the only station that airs these System Cues after WNEO from Youngstown, Ohio stopped airing the 2008 System Cues in 2022.

System Cues[]

Image Show Name Description
Ants
All Shows Ants Dot holds an ant on her finger then lets it go. After that, a colony of ants are seen carrying the circular part of the Dash logo, and that very same ant is helping another colony of ants carry the word "KIDS" also, with the website URL marked on the track.

Note #1: When the updated 2013 version was released exclusively online, the latter colony carries the website URL instead.

Note #2: This is one of only three system cues, and two of them with the Dash logo, in which the logo moves.

Note #3: Dash's voice sounds the same as in both the Balls and Fireworks system cues.

Aquarium
Rare Shows Aquarium Dot and Dash swim at an aquarium, but they are actually pretending to swim behind it, on which Dot giggles. The Dash logo is then also seen at the end on the said aquarium, blowing bubbles.

Note #1: This is the only system cue in which Dot is about to get hurt, by the falling balls.

Note #2: Dash's voice sounds the same as in both the Fireworks and Ants system cues.

Note #3: This system cue, alongside the others, were also seen on the PBS Kids Expansion Spots by Joanna Davidovich. The finished product from this system cue and the Bubbles system cue in the video was not seen from some reason.

Birds
All Shows Birds Dot is keenly observing both red and blue birds hatching both cyan and pink baby birds in the nest on a tree branch. The Dot logo is then seen in a hole on the trunk of the tree.

Note #1: This is one of only six system cues in which the word "KIDS" in the PBS Kids logo is colored white.

Note #2: Dot's voice is calmer than in the other system cues, in which Dot's voice is more excited and in a higher tone. This is also the same for both the Insects and Dot's Reflection system cues.

Note #3: Another name for this system cue is "Bird's Nest".

Note #4: This is one of only common system cues in which Dot makes an appearance without Dash, alongside her own logo.

Insects

Camera
All Shows Camera The system cue is in the viewfinder of the camera as Dot takes a lot of pictures, and after taking a selfie, her logo is captured on the LCD screen of the camera instead of her face.

Note #1: Although no video has been sourced, this system cue once accidentally used the audio from Fireflies, due to an audio error.

Note #2: This was also used on the intro and sometimes the end of Sid the Science Kid DVDs released by NCircle Entertainment.

Note #3: Dot's voice is more excited than in the other system cues, in which Dot's voice is calmer. This is also the same for the Sandbox system cue.

Note #4: Another name for this system cue is "Filter".

Note #2: Another name for this system cue is "Carrot".

Note #1: This is one of only three system cues, and the only one with the Dot logo, in which the logo moves.

Note #1.5: This is also one of only common system cues in which Dot makes an appearance without Dash, alongside her own logo, but Dash made a cameo briefly in a picture on the frame in this system cue as well.

Note #2: This is also the only system cue where Dot's calmer voice is a bit higher and seems to be different than in both the Insects and Dot's Reflection system cues. This is due to the difference between both this and Dot's Reflection system cues.

Note #3: When the updated 2013 version was released exclusively online, there is a different animation for the Dot logo.

Note #4: A very-common name for this system cue is most likely "Dust". Another name for this system cue is "Sunshine".

Note #5: This system cue also appeared on a Netflix print of the Barney & Friends episode "The Emperor's Contest - The Whole Truth".

Note #2.5: This is also one of only system cues in which Dash makes an appearance without Dot, alongside his own logo.

Note #3: Dash's voice is calmer than in the other system cues, which sounds quieter and in a slightly lower tone. This is also the same for the Telescope system cue.

Fireworks
All Shows Fireworks Dash and Dot see the fireworks. Dot then claps when the fireworks appear for the third time. The Dash logo is then seen in the night sky with fireworks.

Note #1: This is one of only six system cues in which the word "KIDS" in the PBS Kids logo is colored white.

Note #2: This is one of only system cues in which Dash's voice sounds pretty much the same as in both the Balls and Ants system cues.

Note #3: The soundtrack in this system cue sounds like something has thud noises to the beat. This is considered an audio opinion.

Note #4: This system cue's audio was once used from such system cues accidentally, those being both "Sandbox" and "Kite". This is most likely due to an audio error.

Frog
All Shows Frog Dot sees a hopping red-colored pail as it hops on her head. She reveals it as a frog and it hops back into the pail, where the Dash logo is seen on.

Note #1: A version of this system cue was seen on the PBS Kids Expansion Spots by Joanna Davidovich.

Kite
Kite (part 3)

All Shows Kite Dash is sad because a kite wouldn't fly for him, which it didn't work that he tried. Dot then thinks and gets an idea. The scene then cuts to Dot, who is seen wearing a helmet and she rides on a pink bicycle with the kite flying onto it, on which the kite worked for Dot. The said kite then transitions to her own logo on the same background.

Audio Error: This system cue once accidentally used the audio from Fireworks for some reason, most likely due to an audio error.

Note #1: This is one of only common system cues with the Dot logo, where Dot's voice sounds the same as in both the Harvest Time and Bubbles system cues.

Note #2: This system cue, alongside the others, were also seen on the PBS Kids Expansion Spots, which are animated by Joanna Davidovich. Before the finished product, after Dot gets an idea, Dash leans at her, realising if she got an idea. The video is shown here.

Note #3: The background when the Dot logo appears is also shown on the "Pine Trees" ID.

Lake (Part 1)
Lake
All Shows Lake Dot discovers ripples from the water by sticking her toes onto the surface of it at a lake. Then, the screen cuts to the ripples, revealing her own logo.

Note #1: Dot's voice is calmer than in the other system cues, in which Dot's voice is more excited and in a higher tone. This is also the same for both the Insects and Birds system cues.

Note #2: This system cue also appears on a promo for Martha Speaks, albeit Dot's voice being more excited (similar to the one from both the Camera and the Sandbox system cues).

Note #3: This system cue is also shown on the PBS Kids 2008 Reface from Primal Screen.

Note #4: This is one of only common system cues in which Dot makes an appearance without Dash, alongside her own logo.

Note #5: Another name for this system cue is "Dot's Reflection".

Rare Shows Magnet Dash plays with a magnet until Dot's lunchbox gets caught in which it gets stuck in the magnetism coming from the said magnet. Then, the camera zooms onto Dot's said lunchbox, on which the Dash logo is seen on.

Audio Combination: This system cue once accidentally combined this said cue's audio with the one from Aquarium for some reason, most likely due to an audio error.

Sheep
All Shows Sheep Dash and Dot are feeding some sheep. Then, Dot grabs a lot of sheep food. They suddenly get surrounded by a herd of sheep. Then, some gates close with a sign of the Dash logo dangling.

Note #1: This is one of only four system cues, and two of them with the Dash logo, in which the logo moves.

Note #2: This is one of only six system cues in which the word "KIDS" in the PBS Kids logo is colored white.

Puddle
All Shows Puddle Dot steps and splashes on a puddle until Dash gets wet at the park. Dot then realizes why she splashed on him. The Dash logo is then seen on the said puddle.

Audio Error: This system cue once accidentally used the audio from Aquarium for some reason, most likely due to an audio error.

Note: This soundtrack is similar to the "Magnet" system cue.

Sprinkler
All Shows Shower

Water Sprinkler

A shower water sprinkler wets Dash and Dot, which they start laughing and continue having fun. The Dash logo is then seen in the sky, where his face gets wet from the said shower water sprinkler.

Note: This is one of only two system cues in which Dash's face reacts to what happens at the end, and both of these are Dash logos.

Magic Balloon
Rare Shows Magic Balloon Dash rubs a red balloon on the carpet, which causes static to happen and holds it in the air, which Dot's hair goes up due to the static, though Dash's hand is stuck. Then, the screen zooms onto the balloon, where the Dash logo is seen on.

Audio Error: This system cue once accidentally used the audio from Fireflies for some reason, most likely due to an audio error.

Note: Another name for this system cue is "Shock", or "Static".

Rock Climbing
Most Shows Rock Climbing Dot tries to get across the mountain. Dash then appears to pull Dot by the hand. The scene reveals that it is just a pile of rocks. Then, Dash puts up a white flag with his own logo on the rocks, as the screen cuts onto a close-up of the said flag.

Note: This system cue, alongside the others, were also seen on the PBS Kids Expansion Spots, which are animated by Joanna Davidovich.

Telescope
All Shows Telescope The system cue is in telescope view as Dash looks through the telescope and sees a Uranus in outer space. Then, Dot suddenly appears on the telescope with a close-up of her eye, which blinks. After Dash uses the telescope, Dot giggles. Then, the camera moves upward, revealing the Dash logo, which is seen in the purple night sky, with the comet on the background.

Audio Error: This system cue once accidentally used the audio from Dot's Reflection for some reason, most likely due to an audio error.

Note: The eye part might have been presumably a reference to the older 1999 Dot system cue.

Note #2: This is one of only six system cues in which the word "KIDS" in the PBS Kids logo is colored white.

Note #3: Dash's voice is calmer than in the other system cues, in which Dash's voice is better. This is also the same for the Fireflies system cue. The soundtrack in this system cue is also the calmest of all of these, most likely due to quiet music.

Note #4: The blinking part might have been a direct reference to the older 1999 Dash system cue.

Sandbox
Rare Shows Sandbox Dash uses a treasure map to find treasure. Dot then walks over to the sandbox and jumps onto it as Dash points to the treasure, on which she sees it on the sand which is the red-colored "X" mark, with a red shovel on it, and, to the left of the sandbox is a red pail. The camera then cuts to a close-up of the treasure, on which Dot uses her hands to find it, which then reveals itself to be her own logo.

Audio Error: This system cue once accidentally used the audio from Fireworks for some reason, most likely due to an audio error.

Note #1: This is the only system cue where the Dot logo on the sandbox is hidden in the sand as a treasure.

Note #2: In this system cue, the red-colored "X" mark in the sandbox, as well as on a treasure map, marks the reference of "X marks the spot".

Note #3: Dot's voice sounds more excited than in the other system cues, in which Dot's voice is calmer and in a lower tone. This is also the same for the Camera system cue.

Note #4: Another name for this system cue is "Treasure Hunt".

An incompleted version of this system cue also exists in that aforementioned video in which the shovel in the sandbox is instead blue, the red "X" mark is absent, there is a different pail and the animation is different (with the exception of the animation for both Dot and Dash).

Note #6: This system cue also appears on a Netflix print of the Barney & Friends episode "Butterflies - Nature of Things".

Note #7: The sandbox in this system cue was also seen on the "Airplane" ID, with the small shovel in the said sandbox also in blue.

Vents
All Shows Vents Dash hears a sound from the air vent where it reveals to be Dot, who is singing the PBS Kids jingle. Then, the Dot logo is revealed on the said vent with a view of pipes.

Note #1: This is one of only six system cues in which the word "KIDS" in the PBS Kids logo is colored white.

Note #2: Dot's calmer voice in the "Window" system cue seems to be a little bit excited, albeit more quieter than both the Sandbox and Camera system cues. This is most likely because of an alteration of the differences between both this, "Window" and "Dot's Reflection" system cues.

Note #3: Another name for this system cue is "Echo".
